As you can see, we have just published a (long overdue) new website. This unifies most of our websites (except for the helprequest site and accounts site).
The academic and research website have been merged together and other various content has all been transformed into simple to maintain markdown format.
For simplicity and security reasons we decided to use a static website generator for the entire website.
Of course, pages like the helprequest system and the account systems still rely on server side processing and logic but other than that all there is is completely statically generated HTML.
This does not mean we can’t serve dynamic content. It just mean we’ll use Javascript to provide dynamic layout. Best example is the search.
We’re big fans of open source, here a (non-exhaustive) list of used projects:
Header design is based on the UD’s own CPA website.
Due to the use of Boostrap 3 this website now also looks great on your tablet and even on your phone (try resizing this browser window!).
However, some functionality relies on a modern browser so be aweare that Internet Explorer 9 or earlier might not work properly with this site. This should not be a problem since we do not recommend such insecure browsers on our network anyways. (We recommend Firefox)
Note that the login box at the top right does currently not give you any benefits. It is only for staff use. This might change in the future.
Let us know how you like the new page and don’t hesitate to contact us for any questions or feedback.
