This compute cluster is restricted to Dr. Carterette’s and Dr. Carberry’s students. It is available over ssh to ir.cis.udel.edu. The cluster was upgraded in December 2011. The headnode is now a 4 core Penguin Altus 1750. Seven of the eight compute nodes (nodes 1-7) are Penguin Altus 650 systems and with irnode0 being the old headnode (a Penguin Altus 1650). All eight of the compute nodes are eight core systems.
A storage server was added to the cluster as a major part of the December 2011 upgrade. The storage server has 30TB of usable mirrored space. The storage is available to the cluster over NFS. This server also has two SSDs in a mirrored configuration to speed up NFS writes and also an SSD to cache reads. The space is divided in so half is available to user homes and the other half to /data. Each user has a filesystem which defaults to 500GB is size. The home space is also replicated to a backup server daily. The /data filesystem is not backed up.
Also, as part of the upgrade the cluster was upgraded to CentOS 6. Jobs should now be submitted using slurm. For more info on slurm please see https://computing.llnl.gov/linux/slurm/
The cluster makes extensive use of automount. For example, homes and /data will be automounted when they are accessed. The Clueweb disks are available (readonly) over NFS and will be automounted when accessed as well (/ir/{CLUEWEB09_1,CLUEWEB09_2,CLUEWEB09_3,CLUEWEB09_4}).
Additionally, each compute node has a small filesystem for scratch space at /local/scratch (which is not shared).
