Your course might benefit from departmental computing resources. Some of these are outlined below. If you need something that isn’t listed here, get in touch with us and we will determine if we can provide it! It may also be a service already provided by College of Engineering IT or Central IT.
Our general login servers may be sufficient for some students to use for coursework. See here
A Virtual Machine may be of use if you would like students to have a common environment for programming assignments.
Optionally, your VM could act as a client which may submit jobs to our general purpose GPU server
For courses making use of our central login servers or a customized VM: each student will need an EECIS account to use these resources.
Each student must create an account, we cannot create accounts for users as a secure password must be chosen during sign-up.
Each EECIS user requires a faculty sponsor. Typically, a sponsor would be required to approve each student manually, but it is possible (and preferred) to pre-authorize your student roster for accounts.
To do this, create a support ticket at our help site containing a list of student UD Usernames or UD email addresses. Note, this is NOT the numeric IDs. We need the username of the student for pre-approval, as EECIS accounts are named to match UDel usernames.
An easy way to get this list is from UDSIS. From the class roster, you can click the spreadsheet icon.
This will download a file containing an email address column. You may send us this file, or copy & paste us the relevant column.
Evans 132 (Cyber Range) and the Undergraduate Electronics Lab, Evans 129. Let us know if you need any special software for these labs.
We have a small supply of Microsoft Surface tablets which may be assigned to your TA for the purposes of remote teaching. They include a touch screen/stylus for marking things by hand. Please inquire with us to arrange delivery.
We are hosting the Moodle LMS for some classes in the CIS department, here https://quiz.cis.udel.edu
An EECIS account is not required for students to use this resource. The service links to each user’s UDel account.
VPL and CodeRunner plugins are available to enable auto-grading of programming assignments.
